High-profile hotel openings continue to pop up around Bali, Indonesia’s much-loved island of ornate Hindu temples, volcanoes and jungle, and impromptu festivals. Twenty-five-foot-high glass walls artfully enhanced by American graffiti artist JonOne Perellofinish off each of 12 villas at The Stairs Bali, an intimate hotel designed by Philippe Starck just off Seminyak Beach near waterfront Alila Seminyak, an imposing Modernist address from Singapore’s URBNarc. Head for the hills too, where Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, now sprawls along the Ayung River Valley outside the artsy town of Ubud, proffering unobstructed rice-paddy views. And in the first quarter of 2015, The Chedi Club Jimbaran welcomes guests into its 34 private havens created by Jaya Ibrahim—with black stone–carved bathtubs and private pools. —Cynthia Rosenfeld
