With Disney World a rite of passage for most families, Orlando is a perennial top destination. In 2015, however, some of the coolest new attractions will lure visitors downtown. In November 2014, the state-of-the-art Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Artsopened its doors, offering an open-air arts plaza, a 2,700-seat main theater, and a world-class lineup of shows including the Tony Award–winning Pippin and Newsies. A dedicated soccer stadium is in the works for the home team, Orlando City, which joins the major league in March 2015 and has already won legions of new fans for the addition of star Brazilian midfielder Kaká to its roster. On International Drive, set your GPS for I-Drive 360—a sprawling entertainment complex anchored by the Orlando Eye, a mammoth, 425-foot observation wheel that will open in spring 2015. Universal Orlando Resort’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Walt Disney World’s New Fantasyland expansion will continue to be huge draws in 2015 too, as will Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, where renovations are well under way. —Kristin Harmel,T+L’s Orlando Local Expert
