Stunning Lake Garda villa for sale
A glamorous period villa perched high above Lake Garda evokes the Liberty period when life was lived at a more gentle pace

Perched high up in the gods, gazing down majestically over the eastern shores of Lake Garda, this Liberty villa has the most stunning views imaginable.
The Liberty style is the Art Nouveau of Italy, a joyous cocktail of Art Nouveau with an Italian twist and this house positively overflows with it. The property has been owned by the same family for over one hundred years. Now, for the first time in its history, the house is for sale.
The 350sq m villa was built in around 1900 by a Veronese entrepreneur. The main house is built over three floors and, although the villa has always been used as a family home, it would be possible to use each floor as a separate apartment. To one side of the house there is a loggia, an open sided gallery, and from there you have fabulous panoramic views over the lake.
In 1910 a four storey viewing tower was added on to the main house. This tower affords the villas occupants a breathtaking bird's eye view over both the lake and the mountain ranges rolling a way into the distance.

The house has large entrance hall, three reception rooms, a large kitchen and large and small cellars, with three master bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first floor, and three further bedrooms and two further bathrooms on the second floor. The property has two terraces and a viewing tower.
The exterior of the villa is decorated with the motifs of various leaves and plants from the surrounding flora. The interior of the villa also boasts many Liberty features such as the wrought iron staircase decorated in typical Liberty style.

The generous gardens are also a wonderful feature of this property and have been planted and maintained with great care by the family - the land in total comes to around two hectares.
In addition to its association with the art and gaiety of the Liberty period the villa also had a brief flirtation with infamy, in the shape of the German High Command, during World War Two. In the summer of 1943 the house was taken over and occupied by the notorious Third Reich. Thankfully, the occupation was very brief and only serves to embellish the history of this magnificent house rather than blight it.
This house is a living monument to the Liberty period and style and is evocative of a time when life was lived, by some, at a far more gentile pace. Whoever the lucky new owners are, they will acquire a unique piece of proprietary history together with a house that is a truly beautiful testimony of its time.
This Liberty villa is on the market with Veneto Select at a price of 2.5 million euro, telephone +44 7789 811 888.
