Seaside house in Johnny Depp’s favourite Cornwall village for sale

An outstanding Cornish property with tremendous views, and a favourite of Johnny Depp, has come onto the market

Many properties are purported to have outstanding water views, but frequently this means craning your neck while hanging off a balcony in a precarious fashion so you can spot the sea/ Marina House on the front in the Cornish village of Cawsand, where actor Johnny Depp has stayed, is the exception, with tremendous sea views from all of the main principal rooms: the master bedroom, kitchen and drawing room. On the market at £600,000 through selling agent Marchand Petit in Newton Ferrers (01752 873311 www.marchandpetit.co.uk ), Marina House was once a courthouse back in the 19th century.

‘The land surrounding the house was where the actual court was held and what is now the utility room was a prison cell,' explains Sandy Lush from Marchand Petit. The house also was a fish and chip shop about 15 years ago, before it reverted to residential use. Mrs Lush points out that seafront properties like Marina House do not come along very often in the village, which is about nine miles from Plymouth. ‘Also, the very private decking area with views of the sea is probably the best in Cawsand.' The village itself, known as ‘the forgotten corner,' has four pubs, a hotel, post office and village shop and is very unspoilt with amazing beaches, Mrs Lush adds. The next-door annex to Marina House with parking and planning permission to become a two-bedroom eco house might also be obtained from the current owner for an additional £125,000.

Country Life

Country Life is unlike any other magazine: the only glossy weekly on the newsstand and the only magazine that has been guest-edited by HRH The King not once, but twice. It is a celebration of modern rural life and all its diverse joys and pleasures — that was first published in Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee year. Our eclectic mixture of witty and informative content — from the most up-to-date property news and commentary and a coveted glimpse inside some of the UK's best houses and gardens, to gardening, the arts and interior design, written by experts in their field — still cannot be found in print or online, anywhere else.
