Country house open day
Following the successful Kent Open House day in January, Strutt & Parker are rolling out the idea across the country

Country cottages and farm houses ranging in price from £250,000 to £2m are taking part in an Open Day on Sunday, March 15.
Each property will be open for viewing from 10am to 4pm. No specific appointment is needed but those interested must register with the office to receive a “ticket” that will gain them admittance at participating properties, to view at any time that suits them within the six hour time slot
Michael Fiddes, head of Estate Agency for Strutt & Parker, says the feedback from the Kent event proves the ambitious initiative is exactly what is required in this market to generate interest and to create deals. ‘We had the equivalent of 3 months viewing in one day and registered hundred of new applicants - we have already received a number of good offers and tied up deals on some of the properties that took part.’
Kirsty Allsopp, a leading home buying agent and the presenter of the television programme 'Location, Location, Location', said: ‘I think it's a brilliant idea. They do open days like this in Scotland and New York and I've always been surprised no one has tried it out in England.
‘People are busier than ever now, and understandably nervous about taking time off work to go house hunting. Why not do a house crawl like this and visit four or five homes in an afternoon? I think it is innovative and the way forward.’
