Properties in Brussels are going to be in demand in coming weeks as new MEPs scour the city for a convenient pad – we find a perfect example

Leopold Village, within 250m of the European Parliament and four stops of the Eurostar terminal, would make a perfect pad for a shiny new MEP keen to be close to the heart of the action in Brussels. This soon to be built 74,000 square foot development will include 108 studios of one, two, three and four bedroom apartments and 5,000 square ft of retail space with parking.
Starwood Hotels are already signed up as partners and will be bring loft-inspired design to their hotel there.
Architect Pierre Blondel Associates have designed the building, which is going to be ultra-contemporary in style with properties in three separate buildings. Sales were launched off-plan in 2007 and have been extremely strong to date, with construction due for completion at the beginning of 2010. Prices range from €179,999 for a studio apartment to €380,000 for a three bedroom apartment, and from €1,050,000 for a penthouse.

Eoghan Quinn, Commercial Manager for Thornsett Belgium, the developers, commented: ‘Brussels property is a natural choice for investors looking for a good rental opportunity, with an excellent rental pool, with the huge amount of diplomats, NGOs and members of European institutions looking for good rental properties. Property owners pay no CGT on residential property if held for more than five years which makes it an attractive investment.
Brussels itself is a charming city full of green spaces, art nouveau architecture and lots of shops restaurants and bars. Made up of 19 communes the city is also packed with weekly markets, local butchers, baker and grocers. It’s also easily reached from London – the Eurostar takes just under two hours from London St Pancras station.
