Legendary auction house Christie’s is holding its first sale in mainland China.
42 works of both Eastern and Western art will be available at the event.
Taking place at the Jing An Shangri-La Hotel in Shanghai on 26 September, buyers will be bidding for pieces ranging from Asian Contemporary to European Modern Masters, as well as jewellery, watches, wine and decorative arts.
Hong Kong jewels and Andy Warhol works will also be on sale in an Online Only auction.
Christie’s is the first international fine art auction company to be granted a license to operate independently in the country.
It’s celebrating with a two-day exhibition of masterpieces leading up to the big day.
The groundbreaking event will be followed by the auction house’s first Indian auction at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Mumbai on 19 December 2013.
