Whether it's a works do or a festive affair at a friend's house, planning an outfit in advance is a must. Listed below are a few tips and fashion must-dos for the Christmas party season, all of which are guaranteed to leave you looking the bell of the ball.
Choose a trend
From sequin blazers and sparkle-enthused flats to the ultimate in party dresses and sophisticated suits, so many outfit options on offer mean it's not unusual to feel a little daunted by this season's offerings.
Prior to hitting the high street, it's wise to have a style in mind. Look to the latest catwalks for fashion inspiration and choose a look that will complement your shape and skin tone.
Every little helps
If you have a variety of festive soirees to attend you may need more than just the one outfit. If this is the case, it may be wise to invest in a store card. This way, you can pay off your shopping spree little by little as opposed to upfront and in one go!

Dress up or dress down?
It is possible to look feminine without wearing a dress this season and for those who are feeling the cold, tailored separates are a great idea. From pink chiffon suit trousers (this season's ‘it' colour) teamed with a glitzy top to oversized flairs and a fitted blazer, there are a number of ways to stay warm and cosy this season whilst still appearing on-trend and ladylike.
The jumpsuit has also made a return to the catwalks and many are opting for this particular ensemble as their go-to Christmas get-up - a sexy alternative to the traditional party dress.
Finishing touches
No outfit is complete without a few finishing touches. If you're planning on attending a variety of events throughout December but don't have a huge budget to play with, choose accessories that will alter existing outfits, allowing you to wear them again and again.
Otherwise, opt for simple accessories that team well with a large proportion of your current wardrobe. Shoes, jewellery and handbags are all good ways of dressing an outfit up or down.
Chunky jewellery is very much in this season and when teamed with a simple black t-shirt or shift dress can change your entire look. Metallic hues are also very popular for the festive season and a metallic clutch worn with matching shoes is a great way to tie an outfit together.
Finally, ensure your make-up compliments your outfit and your complexion. A bright red lip will instantly add glamour whilst a deep maroon shade will add drama to any outfit but you need to make sure it goes with what you're wearing.
