Sa Cabaneta is home to one of the oldest pottery traditions in Mallorca, dating back to the 17th century; the so-called siurells are made here from white fired clay. The siurells are the clay figures with an integrated pipe that are typical of Mallorcan ceramics and are made and painted only by women. They were once used by farmers and shepherds as an instrument to keep their flocks together. In some Mallorcan folk dances, the siruell flute is still part of the music. Particularly worth seeing is the church of Sant Maral, which stands on a picturesque square in the heart of the village. From here you can enjoy a wonderful view of the surrounding area.
