We are thrilled to introduce this visionary project to expand Fågeltornet, located in the majestic nature reserve of Ören, by Stenstrand on Torö in Stockholm's archipelago. This remarkable former military structure, spanning 42.25 m² is a hidden gem perfectly nestled within lush forest, facing the open sea, and surrounded by abundant wildlife—a true haven for relaxation and immersion in nature, ca 50 minutes from central Stockholm. Renowned and internationally recognized firm Lena Wimmer Architects has committed to the development of this unique tower, taking great care to preserve and protect the sensitive surrounding ecosystem. Their approach merges innovation, sustainability, and respect for nature, ensuring that Fågeltornet remains a sanctuary both for its human visitors and the protected bird species that call this area home.
This residence was originally constructed in 1939 as a watchtower to protect Stockholm during World War II. The tower stands in an idyllic setting that blends tranquillity with dramatic coastal views, where powerful waves meet the open sea. This home is situated along Stockholm's most renowned surf beach.
