Manor Farm, Lew
The childhood home of one of Britain’s future eventing stars is an enviably positioned country residence with excellent equestrian facilities

Situated just outside the pretty Oxfordshire village of Lew, Manor Farm is an idyllic country retreat with an historic and elegant house. The property formed part of the Bishop of Winchester?s estate in the 11th century and is now owned by the family of top young eventer Kitty Boggis. Surrounded by its own rolling land, Manor Farm?s impressive main façade is approached by a long sweeping drive, which passes a small lake and an ornamental pool.
The house is Tudor in origin with Regency and modern Elizabethan editions. Accommodation is laid out principally on two floors and includes a spacious drawing room, an orangery and six good sized bedrooms. To the rear of the main house and backing onto the walled garden, is an excellent single storey three bedroom cottage and there is a one bedroom flat above the tack room. A swimming pool complex with hot tub and sauna and a gymnasium are also located close to the house.
Manor Farm is an extremely well facilitated equestrian establishment: it is currently owned by Peter and Jane Boggis, whose daughter Kitty was the National Under-25 eventing champion in 2003 and hopes one day to be selected for the British eventing team. The Boggis?s have ensured Manor Farm is equipped for housing top class competition horses in an attractive, well kept environment. There is an extensive range of traditional buildings providing up to 16 stables, workshops, stores, a tack room, a horse wash down, a large open barn, a further implement store and a gymnasium. Other facilities include an outdoor menage and lunging ring.
The gardens at Manor Farm have been beautifully landscaped. To the front of the house is a wide expanse of lawn overlooked from the terrace with a view of the lake and protected on one side by a ha-ha. An enclosed walled garden with lawns and wellstocked flower borders gives access to the walled swimming pool. The land, which forms a number of railed paddocks, is in good condition and amounts to approximately 20 acres.
With Oxford station just 15 miles away the property benefits from excellent communications to London Paddington (45 minutes) and Heathrow and other major airports are within easy reach.
Manor Farm is for sale at a guide price is £2.8 million. For further details please telephone Hamptons on +44 (0)1993 824546.
