Perfect crumble topping
Crumble always comes top of the pops in puddings we love, so whether it’s apple, rhubarb or plum use our favourite crumble recipe for a crunchy, crumbly topping every time.

Simple crumble topping recipe Crumble topping is so easy to make and remember, and can be added to whatever type of stewed fruit you prefer. Just remember, 2-4-2, or 4-8-4, depending on your number of guests Serves 2 or 3 (simply double the quantities of butter, flour and sugar to serve 4 or 6)
Ingredients 2oz butter 4oz plain flour 2oz sugar 1 teaspoon cinammon 1 teaspoon ground coriander
Method First rub together the butter and flour to form a rough crumble. Next, stir in the sugar and spices. Prepare a suitably sized bowl of stewed fruit (the crumble needs to cover the fruit and remain around 2cm thick), then pour the crumble mixture on top of the fruit. Place the bowl straight in the oven, at medium temperature, for about 35 minutes.
Serve with crème fraiche or cream
