Jaeger-LeCoultre will take over from Veuve Clicquot as the title sponsor of the Gold Cup.
Since its introduction in 1956, the Gold Cup has argueably become the single, most important polo tournament played outside Argentina. Indeed, the British Open remains the pinnacle of the English high-goal polo season for players, patrons, and spectators alike.
Veuve Clicquot announced in August that, after two decades of holding the title, they would be withdrawing their title sponsorship of the Gold Cup for the British Open Polo Championships, leaving this prime position open for another luxury brand.
Now, luxury watch brand Jaeger-LeCoultre has been confirmed as the new title sponsor for the Gold Cup for the British Open Polo Championship in 2015 and beyond, increasing their partnership with Cowdray Park. Since 2012, they have been the official sponsor of six HPA tournaments that take place at the club, supporting the sport at all levels, with their sponsored fixtures ranging from 8 to 18 goal handicap. Jaeger-LeCoultre have also been the official timekeeper for Cowdray Club Polo Club since 2006.
Chairman of Cowdray Park Polo Club Chairman Peter Barfoot said: “Jaeger-LeCoultre’s commitment to polo is unquestionable and the brand has established a solid reputation throughout all levels of the sport. We feel privileged that Jaeger-LeCoultre has chosen the Gold Cup at Cowdray Park as the means to take their support to the very highest level.”
The 2015 Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup for the British Open Polo Championship will open on 23rd June with the final taking place on Sunday 19th July.
