Furniture maker Julian Chichester’s inspiration comes from classic English furniture-making, coupled with an admiration for innovation. The company has an enviable reputation for quality craftsmanship and original design, but the decoration, detail and unusual finishes are what set them apart from the crowd.
Our Philosophy
“I have never felt as if I had to maintain a particular style or repeatedly use the same materials. Over the years, influences have changed, materials have changed and we keep moving on experimenting and mixing it up…” – Julian Chichester
This is furniture with a personality. Must-have classics mix with new designs to look amazing in any contemporary space and equally at home alongside traditional pieces. We bring style to life.
Taking classical shapes from the 19th & 20th Century then adding his own unique twist; Julian Chichester’s vision transforms motifs into something new and fresh and creates the unexpected by adding contemporary finishes and detail.
Our pieces are strong enough to hold their own in any interior, yet transitional enough to work in a diverse array of settings: modern or traditional.
The Art of Fine Craftmanship
Our philosophy is to be inspired by the past in order to create for the future.
The way in which we do this is through mixed media; developing innovative and advanced finishing techniques and combining them on designs inspired by past tastemakers, in such a way that creates a unique piece through the art of exquisite craftsmanship.
Our focus on finishing is known throughout the industry. Some of our distinctive finishes include Leather Wrap, Gesso, Vellum, Brass Wrap and Metal Coating.
Our Sustainability – Forever furniture, not fast furniture…
At Julian Chichester our ethos is to manufacture exquisitely designed, beautifully crafted, timeless furniture - heirlooms of the future. Pieces of furniture that do not lose their look, but make a statement, and lend themselves equally to an old London Town House or a New York loft apartment. Pieces that will stand the test of time in both design and build.
Alongside our ethos of ‘forever furniture’ we are always looking for ways to do more to reduce our impact on this planet and its inhabitants.
We source all of our timber from FSC CERTIFIED suppliers, and we use HONEYCOMB packaging which is extremely strong, super lightweight and 100% recyclable. We are REACH compliant – a European Union regulation that addresses the production and use of chemical substances, and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment.
As a manufacturer we are proud to support the non-profit ‘One Tree Planted’ and to donate any surplus stock that cannot be sold on to local reuse charity ‘Furniture Helpline’.
