About Harris Bugg Studio
Harris Bugg Studio is a values-driven, award-winning landscape design practice delivering gardens of all sizes from 3,000 acres in rural settings to 30 sq m roof terraces in central London. Led by Charlotte Harris and Hugo Bugg, the team of eleven work on a range of projects across the UK and Europe, encompassing residential, public, historic, botanic and commercial spaces. These are often in protected landscapes, requiring a careful and considered approach to design and stewardship.
Founded in 2017, the studio has been listed as one of Country Life Magazine’s ‘Best Garden and Landscape Design Practices in Britain’ every year from 2018 – 2024, and is consistently award-winning, with six Gold medals, two Silver Gilts and two Best in Shows at RHS shows, including three Gold medals at RHS Chelsea. In 2023, the studio won Best in Show at RHS Chelsea for Horatio’s Garden – a beautiful, immersive and accessible space for all those learning to live life following a traumatic spinal injury.
Ethos
The studio is known for working sensitively to embrace and respect the singular spirit of place. Their aim is to connect people and nature, and to do so responsibly with a careful and considered use of materials and plants. They weave all of this together to produce memorable and lasting spaces, planting not only for aesthetic impact but also for four-season interest, biodiversity and sustainability.
They are currently working on rural projects and country estates in Dorset, Oxfordshire, Exmoor, the Highlands, the Isle of Skye and Kent as well as the botanic gardens of Gothenburg and commercial projects in London and Berlin. They have recently completed the redesign of the walled kitchen garden at RHS Garden Bridgewater.
