Tickets are on sale for the second British Military Tournament, to be held at Earls Court on December 2-4. The new show, which will benefit services charities, will use the ‘special relationship' between Britain and the USA as a theme, with musical and theatrical re-enactment of 250 years of British and American military history. More than 700 people are taking part, plussome 100 horses, and the programme includes displays such as the Musical Drive of The King's Troop RHA, the White Helmets stunt riders, the Field Gun Run and the re-creation of a dramatic scene in Helmand Province. Gen Sir David Richards, Chief of the Defence Staff, comments:

‘Given the nature of our ongoing operations, it is only appropriate that the theme is a celebration of the close military ties between the UK and the USA. These ties have never been stronger. The participation in this year's event of soldiers from the US Army Europe and the US ArmyDrill Team will be very welcome.' Last year's inaugural show attracted an audience of more than 50,000. Tickets start from £29.75 (0844 248 5026; www.britishmilitarytournament.com).

Country Life

Country Life is unlike any other magazine: the only glossy weekly on the newsstand and the only magazine that has been guest-edited by HRH The King not once, but twice. It is a celebration of modern rural life and all its diverse joys and pleasures — that was first published in Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee year. Our eclectic mixture of witty and informative content — from the most up-to-date property news and commentary and a coveted glimpse inside some of the UK's best houses and gardens, to gardening, the arts and interior design, written by experts in their field — still cannot be found in print or online, anywhere else.
