A growing number of second home owners are choosing to rent out their properties to cover the costs of mortgages, taxes and upkeep, according to Holidaylettings.co.uk.

A third of owners said they manage to rent out their properties for more than half the year, while 50% said they can fill at least 18 week.

In terms of destinations, Portugal, France and Spain dominate the holiday home market.
