The launch party for the Country Life Fair took place in March at Claridges Hotel in London, and attracted 700 guests, all keen to find out more about this new event taking place in the autumn. Atendees sampled inventive cocktails from Mr Fogg’s and great British sparking wines as they toured exhibits including a wonderful zebra from rocking horse makers Stevenson Brothers.
The Country Life Fair is on a mission to ‘bring the countryside’ to town this September (27th/28th), by showcasing the best of British rural life in the heart of South West London, in the stunning grounds of Fulham Palace, SW6. His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent has also just been announced as the Royal Patron of the Country Life Fair. This new Royal patronage reflects Prince Michael’s interest in conservation and wildlife. He also supports many organisations and charities including The Kennel Club, which has now been adopted as one of the official charities of the Fair.
Come September, from country pursuits, accessories and clothing, to country gardens and properties; from gourmet food and drink in the country kitchen and cellar, to traditional crafts, all aspects of country life will be covered at the fair, with visitors able to sample, taste, try and buy everything they can see.
Over 100 British businesses from William & Son to Patrick Mavros have already signed up to be a part of the event which will combine the best of British luxury brands with top country estate agents and artisan food and drink producers. The Country Kitchen will bring together a host of cheese makers, smokers, butchers and other specialist suppliers who will offer visitors a tempting array of delectable food, from cheddar and chocolate to salt beef sausages to taste, try and buy.
There will be also be cookery and food preparation demonstrations, talks, debates and Q&A’s featuring Tom Parker Bowles and a host of other well-known chefs, food writers and critics.
