North Luffenham Hall is a country property with a notable history. Built in 1555, the house was acquired in 1559 by Simon Digby and it just so happend that a Digby was named as one of the conspirators in league with Guy Fawkes; meetings were thought to have taken place at the Hall during the planning stage of the gunpowder plot in 1605.
Inside the reception hall has a stunning open fireplace and a 17th century carved oak over mantel. The drawing room and library off the fine hallway enjoy lots of natural light and both have magnificent views to the grounds outside, while the large kitchen/breakfast room is the heart of the house, and has a vaulted ceiling with exposed roof trusses, and a large skylight. The dining room and sitting room back towards the rear of the house and are both excellent rooms for entertaining.
Upstairs an oak staircase leads up to the first floor, where the master bedroom suite has charming views from the front of the house; the remaining four bedrooms on this floor are spacious, while the Digby Room, thought to have been the scene of the plotting, has a large fireplace and panelled walls.
