Always one of the highlights of the Game Fair, the parades of hounds are lovely to watch and children (as well as enthusiastic adults) are usually invited to meet the hounds in the arena after the parade. Look out for Stephen Winwood’s talks on hounds in the Hooked on Horses Mini Ring throughout the weekend also.
Tim Maddams: Wild Food and the Art of Simplicity

Tim is a chef, food writer and cookery teacher who, having been head chef at River Cottage’s Axminster Canteen, has set up his own company, Green Sauce that offers cookery teaching, event catering and business consultancy. Check out his demonstrations to learn some great new tips about game, fish and meat.

Michael Evans: Improve Your Fly Casting

Michael Evans is a professional fly-fishing instructor, writer, presenter and tackle designer who will be demonstrating at the CLA Game Fair how to do the perfect fly cast. With nine best selling game angling instruction films under his belt and a description by The Field as one of the top 10 casters of all time, Michael knows his stuff and is well worth a watch.

Sheepdog Demonstration: Elaine Hill and her team of Border Collies
Friday 19th July, Main Arena, 10am & 1.30pm

Elaine’s Border Collies will be demonstrating their intelligence and skill when it comes to working sheep and duck herding. Elaine Hill is a shepherdess, sheepdog trainer and a trial competitor, and in her demonstrations displays basic training of the working dogs, allows the dogs to work obstacle courses and provides informative commentary. Always wonderful to see what these working dogs can do.
Express Eventing

Express Eventing is an exciting and fast-moving version of eventing with three disciplines: dressage to music, cross-country and showjumping. On the Friday and Saturday of the Game Fair there will be introductions to the sport before the three challenging courses on the Sunday and finishing with the Express Evening Prize Giving at 3.45pm on Sunday afternoon.
Final of the CLA Gundog of the Year Competition
Sunday 21st July, Gundog Working Arena, 4.30pm
For the first time ever, the CLA Game Fair is introducing the Gundog of the Year competition in association with Mitsubishi Motors in the UK. Open to all breeds, the competition can be entered by any dog taking part in an event over the three days of the Game Fair, as long as owners are resident in the UK, and to any dogs with a KC Field Trial award. With a challenging group of tests, the dog achieving the highest standard will be crowned the winner on Sunday 21st July.
Meet the ferrets
Ferret Area
Always a popular part of the Game Fair, the ferret area will not only offer advice and knowledge on rabbiting, ferret welfare and training, but will also allow for interactive sessions and live displays. Worth visiting the area just so you can experience the panic as to whether the ferret is lost forever in your clothing.

Field Archery, Breed Demonstrations in the Working Dog Ring such as English springer spaniel, Labrador, Irish water spaniel and Clumber spaniel, Fly and Spey casting over at the Fishing Grandstand and the many clothing and food stalls. Further information can be found on the Game Fair website.
