Eventually the time will come when we decide that city living is no longer for us and a move out to the country starts to appeal. For many of us living in the country conjures up images of isolated properties and farmhouses, but in reality that isn’t the case. There are lots of homes for sale in country villages and modern developments giving us the space and freedom of being out of the city, but lacking nothing in terms of amenities and transport.
Take a look at some of our favourite reasons to bring a little country living to your life.
Space
If you’re living in a city like London with plenty of green spaces you probably relish the time you get to spend in places like Hyde Park or Hampstead Heath. But they aren’t on your doorstep and when you step outside you may be confronted with traffic, noise and general hustle and bustle. You may not think it now, but there comes a time when we look for something different and a move out to the country really starts to appeal. Whether you want to enjoy weekend walks or to spend time in your local country pub, once you start thinking about country living you’ll be sure to find property that suits your every need.
Cost
For those living in city locations, the cost of living can be extremely high with most of us priced out of the property market. In Greater London, at the end of last year the average price of a flat was £362,073, whereas for a semi-detached property you’d be looking in the region of £468,533. Getting your foot on the property ladder as first time buyer with a property a little further out of the city for many represents the best potential chance for value for money. Think more space inside and outside your home.
Time think about the pitter patter
When starting a family, living out in the country could be an ideal option. Being in your own new home will give you financial stability, and you’ll also have a great choice of schools in your local vicinity. Growing up, the kids will also benefit from fresh air, more outdoor space and potentially safer environments.
Exploring the woods at the weekend or enjoying family walks through stunning and bountiful countryside is bound to be the perfect situation for your kids to thrive.
Food
Food plays an important role in rural country living but it’s not all clotted cream and scones; you’ll be able to explore farm shops selling things like local cheese, ciders, fresh bread, and locally grown fruit and vegetables. You may even find some local vineyards producing top quality wine.
Community organisations are big on promoting local produce so there’s likely to be any number of events where you can indulge all your culinary desires.
With all these different factors at work, the appeal of country living could be just around the corner for you.
