Australia. The Royal Academy off Arts presents the most significant survey of Australian art ever mounted in the UK. The Ark of Suburbia: an exhibition of Susan Horth’s sculptural work, inspired by her suburban garden. The intricate pieces are inspired by the many birds, animals and insects that visit the artist’s garden, all made by hand with fine knitted wire and beads. The Glamour of Bellville Sassoon. An exhibition that celebrates what was Britain’s greatest couture label from the 1960s onwards. Johannes von Stumm. Having launched their 2000ft gallery space at 6 Duke Street St James’s in July, Bowman Sculpture announces an exhibition of Bavarian sculptor Johannes von Stumm. The special focus of the artist’s work lies in overcoming the difficulty of creating a mixed media work by amalgamating several conflicting materials: glass, steel, granite, wood. Jennifer McRae. An exhibition of recent work from the artist Jennifer McRae. David Tremlett: Artists’ House Drawings. A specially commissioned collection of a series of wall drawings by David Tremlett, for the Artists’ House at Roche Court. Merlyn Evans: The Life of Forms. This is an exhibition of paintings from the 1960s by Merlyn Evans, displayed in the Gallery at Roche Court. A Family Collection from Boxted House: Works by Robert Brevan and other Modern British Art from the collection of Bobby and Natalie Bevan. The exhibition presents work from the personal collection of Bobby and Natalie Bevan which hung on the walls of their home, Boxted House in Essex. At the centre of the how is a group of paintings by Bobby’s father the Camden Town Group artist Robert Bevan (1865-1925). The Fine Art Society will be offering these to the market for the first time as well as other drawings and rare prints by Bevan. Pearls. A pearl-drop earring worn by Charles I at his execution and a necklace given to Marilyn Monroe by Joe DiMaggio are among the superb array of over 200 jewels and art works on display at the V&A. Another Light: Prairie Journey – In the 1980s John McLean was invited as guest artist to the University of Saskatchewan’s legendary Emma Lake workshop where previous visitants included John Cage, Barnett Newman and Antony Caro. John Blackburn: A Decade of Evolution.
