Set in one of the most scenic areas of Upper Lough Erne, Doocharn extends to over 9 acres including a private foreshore. The island, one of a group of around ten, is wooded with natural hardwoods, and is situated on Upper Lough Erne, at a point where the lake opens up.
Roland Eadie from Eadie and McFarland, the Agents for the sale, said: ?Doocharn has never been inhabited and has never been planted by man. It is totally natural.?
While the new owner will be able to enjoy totally uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountainous landscape, they will not be able to build: ?It is protected because of the natural surroundings. The Lough is an important natural asset, so planners are careful not to let things pop up all over the place,? said Mr Eadie.
Within easy reach is a public jetty at Knockninny Quay, so getting to and from the island will not be a problem. However the new owner will enjoy total seclusion. The nearest town is Derrilyn Village, which is two miles away.
Mr Eadie initially set an estimate of £50,000 for the property, which is being sold by private treaty, however the amount interest has pushed this figure rapidly upwards.
