Earlier this month English Heritage made the exciting announcement that their new Stonehenge exhibition would be open from the 18th December 2013.
The Stonehenge Environmental Improvements Project, the largest venture ever undertaken by English Heritage, was made possible with a £10-million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, and generous grants from the Garfield Weston Foundation, The Linbury Trust and Wolfson Foundation.

Improvements to the site include the highly anticipated visitors centre, made from locally sourced materials, to be more respectful of the surrounding environment.
Highlights of the new Stonehenge Exhibition are a virtual “Stand in the Stones” experience, free hand-held audio guides, a display of original tools used in the henge’s construction and the earliest known drawings of the monument.
The pinnacle of the exhibition, apart from the stones themselves, is the newly unveiled reconstructed face of a 5,500 year-old Neolithic man. Dr Simon Thurley, the Chief Executive at English Heritage, says, ‘at last, visitors to Stonehenge will be able to get a sense of the people who built this monument’.
