An island off the coast of Italy has come onto the market: lying seven miles off the coast of the mainland, Isola di Mal Ventre is in the province of Oristano, and has an area of roughly 200 acres.

The island’s topology differs from side to side: the north west is exposed to the Mistral wind, and is wild and rugged as a result, but the south east coastline is much prettier, and has many wonderful coves and beaches. The island itself is mainly granite covered in low vegetation with a wide variety of flora and fauna.
Isola di Mal Ventre has been inhabited on and off since Roman times, and there is still evidence of wells and the foundations of former buildings. Presently situated within a marine protected area, the island has not been subject to application for planning permission since the current owners took it on in 1972, but if planning permission for even just a small villa could be achieved, it would dramatically increase the value of the island.
