Contemporary Surrey country house

A modern country house, on the fridge of the popular Surrey town of Godalming and within easy commuting distance of the City of London, has been launched on the market by Hamptons International.

The house was originally built in the 1960s but has undergone extensive remodelling by the current owners, combining modernist-inspired architecture with artistic flair.

Living spaces have been made deliberately flexible employing high ceilings and sliding glass doors. The master bedroom occupies the entire first floor and has a balcony which opens out over the garden.

Three other bedrooms have been arranged around an inner hallway with a guest bedroom while two further bedrooms have en suite facilities and mezzanine sleeping platforms.

The owner-designer, Tim Petherbridge, explains: ‘The property was completely run-down when I decided to take on this project – I have a passion for restoring and redesigning property.  It has provided a fantastic home for me and my family but I am now ready to take on the next challenge.’

The property is currently available through Hamptons International for £2.75 million.
