Former Liverpool striker and football legend Ian Rush is marketing luxury homes in the south east of Cyprus, Aphrodite’s birthplace where she rose from the foamy seas.

Mr Rush has joined up with Karma Developers and the International Property Group (www.ipggroup.co.uk) to help launch Mythical Sands Resort & Spa, a five-star luxury health scheme in Kapparis. The Rushes’ Spa complex will be a key feature of the project, the first top-end development in the region.
Positioned on the Protaras coastline – where many canny locals like to own second homes – Mythical Sands is close to the town of Paralimni and a short walk from three quiet beaches.
‘I looked all over Cyprus for somewhere to invest and this area has lots of scope. It is like the Algarve was 15 years ago where I invested in three villas at Parque da Floresta.
‘I am hoping for similar growth for my two-bedroom apartment at Mythical Sands, which I intend to use as an investment holiday home for me, my wife and two sons,’ says Mr Rush.
The former footballer plans to make good use of the spa, which he insists is ‘not just aimed at women. Most men like to keep themselves fit and can benefit from the treatments available at a good spa. I travel a lot in the Far East where having a foot or head massage is normal and I have no qualms about having them.’
The new Cypriot project will consist of 345 two-bedroom apartments with air conditioning, private verandahs, marble staircases and sound systems on the terraces, with prices starting at a very affordable £199,950.
