Launched in Country Life this week, this lovely 16th-century house stands in glorious countryside in a hidden Exmoor valley. Set at the end of a private drive, it is surrounded by its own land and has farreaching views down the valley.
‘We bought it for the riding and the hunting,’ says Miranda Russell, who has three English pointers, known as ‘the hooligans’. ‘It’s the most perfect place if you want to be in your own private kingdom, but it’s also a fabulous place for a party—we had our 25th anniversary here.
It’s a very warm and friendly house, where you can have roaring log fires and lots of people to stay. It’s lovely sitting up in bed early in the morning and seeing the deer grazing and the sheep coming down to drink from the stream. My husband used to love painting here. It’s just a wonderful setting, but now that the children have left home, the house is too large.’
