Property news index: February
February saw some good news coming out of the gloom of property market and some suggestions about how to kickstart sales, including raising the stamp duty threshold to £1m. Although prices are dropping in popular parts of Spain, closer to home we found that the Scottish property market has not been subject to the house price crash in the same way as England and Wales has. We also witnessed a new project in London working with heritage bodies to retain a period façade whilst building modern apartments, and discovered signs of buyers returning to the London property market.
Countrylife.co.uk also reported that the property market in Kent is healthy, particularly for very good houses; indeed quality property countrywide will prompt buyers to act, particularly those who made money selling before prices dropped and are now after a bargain. For those who have not yet sold we have advice for reluctant landlords letting their houses until the market picks up.
