The River Ebble is a chalk stream that flows through the picturesque Chalke Valley, joining the River Avon two miles south of Salisbury. The fishery consists of two channels, the main river with 280 yards of single bank fishing, ideal for wading and a side nursery stream for small trout with 302 yards of double bank fishing. In total there are 7.56 acres of permanent pasture.
The River Ebble was reclassified in 2008 by the Environment Agency as one of the country’s first and only Wild Trout rivers. It has been restored by Simon Cooper Signature Fishing who has vast experience in the restoration and maintenance of many miles of the best fishing in southern England. Mr Cooper says: ‘When Bishopstone Meadow became available I knew it was a rare opportunity to create a fishing gem, on a little known river, which was on the cusp of great things.’
Simon Cooper Signature Fishing will provide free maintenance to cut river weed, trim the banks and mow the grass for the 2009 fishing season. This arrangement may continue by separate negotiation.
