Skinniest houses in London & New York

What’s thought to be New York’s skinnest house has sold for $2.1 million. The red brick building in the popular district of Greenwich Village is only 9.5 ft wide and 42 ft deep.  It was built in 1873 in an alley between two homes.

Last August, the two-bedroom town house was launched on the market with a price tag of $2.7 million.  It last sold in 2000 for $1.6 million.

According to a plaque on the outside of the building, the poet Edna St. Vincent Millay once lived in the house.

Meanwhile, London’s equivalent, an even narrower home in Shepherd’s Bush is still on the market with Faron Sutaria at a guide price of £549,950. It is just six feet wide and has five levels – a lower ground, ground, first, second and third floor, with just over 1,000 sq ft of space.

The floor plan gives an idea of the layout of this unusual home.
