Peter de Savary’s most recent venture is to buy sixteen harbour-front homes in one of New England’s most fashionable summer resorts, Newport Rhode Island. The Vanderbilt Residences at Brown & Howard Wharf have undergone improvements to both the interiors and exteriors to include features such as ‘yacht cabin staterooms’ and a waterfront private patio for owners’ use. Today, seven remain for sale.
As part of the reinvention, residents will also have use of the Vanderbilt Club. ‘Owners of the residences will enjoy membership, privileges and the facilities at Vanderbilt Hall, a mansion hotel, spa and members club located nearby in the heart of Newport’s Historic Hill. The properties and owners association will be managed by the Vanderbilt Hall Club with a menu of concierge services available to the owners. As Chairman of the Vanderbilt Hall Club, I am also assuming leadership responsibility for the Vanderbilt Residences and intend to offer a unique lifestyle for those fortunate enough to own a Vanderbilt Residence; in what is set to become a most outstanding, exclusive and private maritime haven and marina.’
‘Our goal is to continue to build a special boutique real estate firm which will brand, market and sell select luxury developments and individual properties in Newport and internationally,’ says Mr de Savary. ‘Word of the new firm has trickled out, and we have already received a number of inquiries from interested parties.’
Mr de Savary has spent the last 35 years on various projects ranging from Skibo Castle and Glenborrodale Castle in Scotland, the Bovey Castle hotel in Devon, Port Louis Marina and Mount Cinnamon in Grenada, The Abaco Club in the Bahamas, Cherokee Plantation in South Carolina, Carnegie Abbey in Rhode Island, and the St. James Clubs.
