Alpaca Farm Open Day – Sunday 12th September

Diversity in farming has long been popular in the UK and one of the animals which farmers have had great success with is the alpaca. A smaller, more beautiful, relative to the llama, the alpaca can now be found all over the UK in herds such as the one residing at Morden Hall on the borders of Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. Morden Hall have been farming the animals since 1997 and now have a 100-strong herd. Bred for its incredibly fine fleece which has similar qualities to cashmere, alpaca wool is soft and light to touch, yet full of warmth.

Morden Hall are keen to share their love of their furry friends and are holding a Farm Open Day on Sunday 12th September – their eighth consecutive open day.

Each year the farm welcomes over 300 visitors through the gates and not only will the alpacas be on display, all individually named, but this year there will be a range of alpaca knitwear for sale, spinners and felters, as well as alpaca feed suppliers, and gifts.
