A penthouse in Monaco owned by the property developer Christian Candy has been sold for €240m (£199m) in one of the most expensive property sales this year.
According to a report in the Financial Times, La Belle Epoque, where Christian and his brother Nick Candy live, has been bought by an unnamed Middle Eastern investor.
The penthouse sits on the top two floors of the building and overlooks Monte CArlot’s glittering marina. The apartment appeared on the pages of Architectural Digest in November 2009 which showed off its double height library and oval-shaped office where the two brothers work. Two suites include a bedroom, bathroom, dressing room, cinema and kitchen.
Last year, we reported that the Avenue Princess Grace in Monte Carlo was the most expensive street in the world to buy a house where €84,985 was the price of just one square metre.
La Belle Epoque penthouse was previously the home of Edmond Safra, the financier and philanthropist. He died in a fire at the property in 1999.
