British Food Fortnight begins

British Food Fortnight-slogan ‘Grown here, not flown here’ which starts this weekend (September 18-October 3), will be helping farmers capitalise on the London Olympics as a showcase for their produce, ensuring that British food is served in the athletes’ village and in food outlets to the public.

In 2012, the festival will be scheduled to coincide with the Games. Events this year include a competition for schools, in which they are challenged to produce a menu that would have been used by previous generations in the locality; the winning school will cook for The Duchess of Cornwall and the Hairy Bikers.
