Carter Jonas are putting up for auction a cottage that can only be approached on foot along a path that starts by the village church. It is one of a group of eight cottages called The Gardens in the village of East Pennard, near Shepton Mallet, Somerset.
New owners of the cottage, which lies within a Conservation Area, will have to park their car in the car park by the village church and walk in from there. The cottage has a good-sized garden and views over open countryside, however, the three bedroom property does need modernisation and improvement to come up to modern standards.
Tori Osborne of Carter Jonas says: ‘It’s almost surreal when you visit the cottage because there is just no sound of traffic and it feels as if you have entered another world. With many mature trees around the cottage and its ample garden it feels insulated from outside sounds – and shopping trips, I’m told by the vendors, normally end with a wheelbarrow journey to carry items on the final leg of the journey along what’s known locally as The Pilgrim’s Path.’
The guide price is estimated at between £150,000 and £200,000 and the auction will be held at the Francis Hotel in Bath at 6.30pm on October 6, 2010. Carter Jonas (01749 677667)
