The 2011 Guinness World Records launches this week, and includes such delights as Swallow (above right), a Dexter bull at Pike Eden Farm, in Rishworth, Halifax, who has measured in at 33½in, from rear foot to hind, making him the world’s smallest bull.
The longest theatrical run of any show in the world is revealed to be Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, after 23,195 consecutive performances at St Martin’s Theatre, London. Ann Atkin of West Putford, north Devon, has collected the largest collection of gnomes and pixies, a total of 2,032.
The world’s oldest yew tree is a specimen of common yew (Taxus baccata) present in the churchyard of St Digain’s parish church, in Llangernyw, North Wales, which is estimated to be 4000 years old. The 2011 Guinness World Records is out now in all good bookshops.
