John and Wendy Credland first came across Grade II listed Lenwade Mill when Mrs Credland read the 18th century diaries of Parson Woodforde, which mentioned the building. When they viewed it, however, they fell in love with its waterside setting as much as its history. The mill, which retains plenty of original features, including a piece of the engine drive shaft, overlooks deep pools that are home to kingfishers and swans. ‘It is an absolutely fantastic house to live in,’ says Mrs Credland.’I do spend an enormous amount of time drinking coffee and looking out of the window and watching the water flow by.’
