Cowdray Park Polo Club will introduce a variety of exciting changes at this year’s Final of the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup for the British Open Polo Championship. Following the excitement of the British Open Final and the presentations to the teams, the crowd will be entertained with a breath-taking show by the famous Blades Aerobatic Display Team.
Swooping into view will be a group of former Red Arrow pilots renowned worldwide for flying precision close-formation aerobatics to the highest level within a dynamic and cutting edge display. The Blades represent some of the country’s most experienced display pilots and are experts in aerobatics. At the end of 2011 the team set the world record for flying 26 consecutive formation loops!
The Blades display is 15 minutes long and full of breath-taking manoeuvres from start to finish as the pilots reach combined speeds of over 400mph whilst flying just 8ft apart. The amazing variety of aerobatic stunts not only demonstrates the great skills of the pilots, but also the incredible versatility of the Extra 300 aircraft. From high rising looping manoeuvres and dynamic 10g formation breaks, to high-speed opposition passes and exciting solo aerobatics, the display is absolutely thrilling.
The Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup Final will start half an hour later at 3.30 pm giving visitors plenty of time to unpack their picnics and relax over lunch in the stunning scenery of Cowdray Park’s Lawns polo grounds. A myriad exciting shopping opportunities exist in the new look retail village where guests can try for themselves the skills required to take on the ‘King of Sports’ on the IG Index mechanical polo pony simulator. The Veuve Clicquot Champagne Garden is an ideal spot to meet friends and other attractive bars are located around the grounds. The new Cowdray Park Lawns Enclosure will be located at pitchside where cool jazz will play into the evening. Cowdray Park Polo Club members have free entry while spectators can purchase guest badges at £10 each.
