Edward Fox, of British Waterways, said: 'All in all, it is a complete pain, which disrupts the network for boaters and diverts our staff from their other work on the waterways.
'From what I understand it would be a very inefficient way of trying to catch fish, as they detect the increased flow and escape from the pound with the water.'
